Time flies & dreams come true.

Hi there, friends. It looks like it’s been about 4 years since I’ve posted here, but I just received an update that hundreds of you are still stopping by every month. So much has changed, my whole life, really, and I’d love to give you a little update and let you know where we can connect these days.

A little over three years ago we moved to Seattle, fulfilling a lifelong dream. My family’s lives are filled with mountains and the ocean and each other. In another dream-come-true, I rented a studio in order to teach classes and hold mindful making retreat– just before the pandemic hit. Like I’m sure you are, I’m still working my way through figuring out how to be together, while not being together. The space has been a welcome respite with both of us working at home in a house less than half the size of our midwestern home. It’s given me and the kids a quiet space to practice yoga, to make clothes, to listen to podcasts, and get a fresh perspective.

I’m still making patterns, though the majority of time I’m helping other brands expand their size ranges to be more inclusive. I’ve experimented with private lessons online, and with all this time alone I’ve been really diving deep into what role making something with our hands plays in our lives – and how the simple act of making something helps us feel more grounded, more connected to ourselves, each other, and our ancestors, while providing a way to disconnect from the virtual world and back to the real one.

I’ll be spending the rest of the year focused on designing some courses and contributing to a couple books that mean a lot to me. Over the past couple years, I’ve studied CAD patternmaking and grading. I’ve become a reiki master, and completed trauma-informed yin yoga teacher training. I’ve been meditating and volunteering and noticing that no matter how disconnected all of these things seem at first glance, they are really all connected.

As for the future, I’m writing at my new website. The Goodship Dress and Infinity Sweater will both move to my new pattern shop once they are updated with new branding and/or expanded to more sizes, and the tutorials that currently live here will move to my Handmade Wardrobe site.

As ever, if you have any class or workshop requests, or just want to catch up, I’m happy to hear from you. Please feel free to reach out. I’m going to send this note to my mailing list here, so please forgive the duplication if you’ve received this message to your inbox.

Thank you for your connection and support and friendship throughout the years. I hope you’ll consider signing up for my new email list if the idea of experiments in making meaning sparks your interest. If not, that’s perfectly okay, and I’ll say goodbye with love.
